Pumpkin Patch

General Conference Thoughts

Conference this time around was a good one, as it always is! I wanted to be sure to document that, this year, the age for missionaries has changed. As long as I can remember, the age for boys to serve full time missions was 19 years old and for girls it was 21 years old. This year, President Monson announced that the age has changed to 18 years old for boys and 19 years old for girls. The other qualification for a mission as well is to be graduated from high school. How crazy!! I can't imagine how many mission papers are being mailed in as I write. I got on facebook and so many people were going crazy knowing that they could go on a mission sooner than planned. To my future children: This is inspired and such a blessing for you.

I also wanted to talk about one talk in particular that stood out to me (probably because I paid most attention to this one, because I will admit I was little distracted some of the other talks...). It was given by President Uchtdorf and I liked this quote the best: "Don't wait until you are ready to die to decide to live." I feel that I am constantly hearing quotes like this, but for some reason, this particular talk and quote stood out to me above the rest. I think it's because I finally realized what it truly means.

I've always felt that actually living was doing all sorts of crazy things like traveling all over the world, skydiving, climbing Mount Everest or whatever else are on people's bucket lists. And don't get me wrong, all of those things are wonderful and contribute to a life well lived. But what about the people who never have the opportunity to do those things? Does that mean that their life was never lived? These questions have constantly been in my head, but after hearing this talk by President Uchtdorf, they were answered.

A life well lived is one where you were happy. Happy with where you are at, happy with the choices your making, happy with the blessings you have received. Being grateful and not constantly wishing for more your whole life.

Heavenly Father is constantly blessing me and so many times I find myself ready to move on to the next thing without taking in what I have now. I want to be able to look back on my life and see that I was grateful for all those moments that I had and saw all of my blessings throughout my life, rather than just at the end.

So today I want to list a few things that I am grateful for. One, of course, being my husband who is the biggest support and loves me more than I deserve. I've never met a more patient and giving man and I hope to be more like him. I'm grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that helps me to know how to live my life so I can strive to be better and all off the truths that I have been taught through being a member (how great was the talk: "I'm a mormon, I live it, I love It"?!). I'm grateful for my family, especially my mother, who has sacrificed so much for me. I know that I can never repay her for all of the things that she has done for me. And I'm grateful for my job and for the Chrastil family for being such incredible examples to me in raising children so that I may one day try to be just as good a parent.

And, finally, I'm grateful for General Conference and that I was able to hear some of the guidance that was given to us and that we can receive this guidance every six months. In April, I think I will have a notebook to write things that I liked for each talk. Mental note taken.

One Wedding and a Birthday

Tanner is finally married!!! We are so excited for him and Jess and were glad that we could take part in their special day. They are such an amazing couple! Everything was perfect and beautiful.

One of my favorite things about weddings is being able to go to the temple with them and see them get married. It is such an amazing experience and reminds me of my own wedding day and how wonderful (and stressful) it is, but at the temple that stress is non existent. Everyone is so calm and so happy.

It was a long day full of fun events and seeing old friends. It's always fun for me to see the whole gang of boys be groomsmen at each others wedding's because it is craziness! But they make everything so much more fun. Gotta love those guys.

On Saturday we celebrated Owens birthday party with all of the kids in his class! It was a mad house but so much fun! The kids all did great and Owen loved his rock n roll themed party that Hillary and Jesse put together for him. What good parents! I still can't believe Owen is 5!

We finished our weekend off by taking a drive up millcreek canyon before church. This is one of my favorite things to do in the fall. The leaves were breathtaking.

I must admit that I really like being outside in the woods with Tyler just so I can check him out doing outdoorsy stuff ;) I had to get pictures of him chopping up this already fallen down aspen tree for my mom (I had to say already fallen down because I don't want it out there that we are cutting down trees illegally! ;) ).

Can I just say how happy I am that it is finally October! I have been getting ready for this month, and particularly Halloween, all through September! This is my favorite month, and it helps that we got married in October too. So excited for all of the fall things we get to do now :)

Alright, that is all for now! Here are some pics :) sorry they are out of order.

Ps. Check out the potions I made!
Pps. I made the dance group for the Mormon tabernacle choir Christmas concert!!!

Canning and Utah State Fair

It's that time of year again!! Whenever September comes my mom and I gear up for some major salsa canning. Last year was my first year doing it with my mom and this year Tyler and David even joined in on the fun (though I don't think they will be helping us again next year, they were scarred). We made 7 dozen jars of salsa and
I am canned out! It took two days and staying up til 1 in the morning to complete our project but it is so worth it! Now I'm glad it's over :)

Tyler also surprised me with a date night out to the fair! This is a tradition that we look forward to every year and I was so excited to go! We always look at all the booths and then go to a couple shows. This year there was a comedian that was hilarious and then some divers who jumped into an extremely shallow pool, I don't know how they did it.
It was such a fun time. Thanks to my
Honey for takin me on a date night!

As a side note to our awesome weekend, we had a couple moments where Ty and I scared my mom so bad and it was hilarious!! I don't know why it is so funny to me to scare someone because I get so mad whenever Tyler scares me (which he does all the time).

Anyways, this has lead to us starting a game with Halloween coming up and everything. For those of you who have seen the Worst Witch (a super old Halloween movie that is my favorite!) there is a part where they have a scaring contest and they would get a point every time they scared someone. Well, with all of us living in the same
House for the time being, we are going to do that exact thing. We will start a score board and whoever has the most
Points by November 1 gets some sort of prize. I will keep this updated on how it's going, bring on the scaring!

Labor Day Weekend

We had such a fun, busy weekend! We were spoiled because Ty didn't have to work Saturday or Monday for the holiday so we got a three day weekend together!

The Lloyd family reunion was this weekend (this is Linda's side of the family). It was a blast eating yummy food, playing kickball, watching the younger kids do their talents, and just to catch up with everyone. Everyone's lives change so fast that it's hard to keep up on what everyone is doing!

Then we were invited to go with our new friends Brad and Rachelle and their baby Avery to antelope island. So much fun, especially since we got so close to some buffalo!! It was awesome. We also saw some antelope and we saw PLENTY of bugs. Holy cow. It was like the plague, there were so many bugs. Luckily they were only by the water so they didn't bother us on our hike.

We ended our afternoon by hitting up the wing coop. Looks kinda shady but it is so GOOD! Best wings ever! They have like a million different sauces to choose from that I have to go back just try some different kinds.

Another thing that we have been doing is selling some of our old stuff (mostly furniture) on ksl. Talk about addicting! I have already sold 6 things on their and it has been so fun! I just get excited because we get to use the money to get nicer things! And I've realized that I'm quite the saleswoman during the process ;)

So, as I was writing this post, I thought of a funny conversation Ty and I had recently and I kinda feel like putting it
On here so bare with me!
Ty: these pears are kinda going bad. They're pretty squishy.
Me: Well it's not my fault you didn't eat it the day I bought them!
Ty: Well I'm not just gonna eat a cornucopia!

Ha! Oh man I laughed so hard with that one. This just shows mine and Tyler's daily conversations we have.

Writing about that conversation made me think of another one we had recently as well so bare with me again!

Ty and I have talked about adopting a baby from a different country sometime in the distant future. So one day I said I want to adopt a Polynesian baby! Wouldn't it be cool to go to Polynesia...! Tyler started to busted a gut. Now those of you who don't know why he is laughing, don't worry, I was in that spot too. Apparently Polynesia is not even a place. It's the Polynesian islands :) learn something new everyday!

Ok off of that tangent :) here's some pictures!

Park city getaway

Hillary and Jesse had gotten us a stay at the Chateaux in Park City for our birthdays and we were finally able to book it for this weekend! It was so nice to getaway for a little bit!

The hotel was gorgeous and each room had a fireplace which made things very cozy :) for some reason, they were not able to issue us our keys so we had to be escorted to our room two times before they offered to move us to a new room and give us an upgrade to a master suite! It was sweet!
The things we did while up in park city:
-ate dinner at the Cena restaurant in the hotel. Best food I've had in my life!
-walked down main street and stopped in the bookstore
-went back to main street to their incredible deli for breakfast and of course got a Carmel apple.
-shopped at the outlets and got some incredible deals.
-drove through Gaurdsmans pass to Big Cottonwood Canyon and then headed to oktoberfest!
- looked at all the cool booths and ate some yummy brats.
-then headed home back to reality :)

Thanks Hillary and Jesse for the awesome present and thanks to my
Honey for a great weekend!

Oh and I got new awesomely red glasses that Tyler calls my "red baron glasses". He always teases me :)
